We decided to throw a Mother’s Day Giveaway this past May.  Since becoming a mama myself I completely understand the need to feel pretty, dress up and be pampered.  And when I say “need” I mean it.  We, as women, crave feeling beautiful, noticed and worthy!  I, of course, used photos of my own beautiful mama for the giveaway advertisement.  See her photos HERE.  One of our awesome stylists, Michelle, “mominated” her dance-mom friend Adrienne for the Giveaway.

This is what Michelle had to say about her friend:

“I’ve never met another mom like Adrienne.  In just the few short years that I’ve known her, she has continued to inspire me through her determination to provide for her children’s many extracurricular activities, to serve the community as a nurse taking care of others and to somehow manage to be at every function regardless of the sleep debt she accrues from week to week by working long shifts.

I’ve watched her first-hand love on her children in a way that is completely selfless, and foregoing every opportunity to make time for herself to be with them. Even if it means going over 30 hours without sleep.  She deserves to do something for herself… Something that will make her feel beautiful and pampered.”

So, Michelle and I absolutely made sure that Adrienne felt pampered and beautiful!

“I have always wanted to do a boudoir shoot!  I am such a girly girl!  I love, sparkle, glitter, make-up, hair, jewelry, and dressing up.  You would have thought I would have done this a long time ago!  However, after having kids, I did not return to my cute little size 8 self.  This resulted in a ton of insecurities that I have dealt with everyday.  I always say that I will do these types of things for myself when I get “skinny”…or maybe later when I can lose “x” amount of pounds.  Then, two very special ladies came into my life.

My sweet friend Michelle, “Mominated” me for this Mother’s Day contest for a boudoir shoot.  I was so excited!  I met with Elizabeth and right from the start she put me at ease.  I felt so comfortable and like I was talking to an old friend.  She listened to my concerns and made me feel that this was something that I could do.  She was so compassionate and genuine about my concerns, always reassuring me that I totally deserved to do this.  She was so organized and completely interested in making this a fun, uplifting experience.  I left our first meeting so excited and impressed by all that Elizabeth put into her work.

The day of the shoot was amazing.  My hair and make-up artist, Michelle, was awesome!  The set-up had my little make-up-loving-heart in heaven!  They had all my favorite brands, and then some, to make me up!  Michelle made me look beautiful!  She was very knowledgeable about what would work well with my features, my outfits and the camera.  My hair and make-up looked even better than I could have ever imagined!  I was so pleased.

During the shoot, I felt like one of my close friends was taking pics of me.  I couldn’t have been more comfortable with anyone else.  She was strategic in her posing.  She was completely encouraging and reassuring that I looked beautiful.  She gave me back something that I had been missing since the birth of my first baby 12 years ago — CONFIDENCE!  With the combination of the hair, make-up and the positive atmosphere — I completely let my guard down.  I felt pretty, just as I was.  For once, I didn’t see me as my flaws, or what I considered to be my flaws.  I saw me.  I felt pretty as me.  That day I accepted myself the way I was and felt beautiful with out adding on “I would be prettier if” statements. I can never say thank you enough for that, Elizabeth!

I encourage anyone who has ever wanted to do this, even just a little bit, please do!  It was an amazing experience from start to finish.  I loved the Pinterest board set up for ideas on hair, make-up and posing.  I loved the way they made me look, but more importantly the way that they made me feel.  I LOVED seeing the finished product.  It truly confirmed what I had already known from the beginning.  Elizabeth is great artist, a wonderful human, compassionate, caring and so very talented.  I will treasure this experience and my photos for many years!  But most importantly I want to thank YOU! Hair, make-up & cute outfits aside, you helped me find my confidence again.  You helped me accept and love myself just the way I am and that is something that I can never say thank you enough for!  ♥”

Annnd now you know why I cried at your pre-session consultation when I was describing it all to you!  It’s such an incredible thing to do for yourself!  Every woman MUST do it.
