My Turn | Austin Boudoir Photography

Photographer + HMUA :: Michelle Rodriguez

So, I wasn’t even planning on writing my blog post about MY boudoir session yet. I think I have been putting it off actually…and if you know me, you know that I DO NOT typically put things off. My OCD gets to me and I just.have.to check things off my to-do list! Ha!

But!! An old high school friend of mine just shared this amazing blog post with me… (Thank you Jennifer Penko!)

Check this out: 10+ Reasons I Love My Ugly Body by Andrea of ImPerfectLife.net

It’s amazing how we women talk ourselves down and out of taking photos because “I need to lose weight first” or “I’m just not ready yet” or the million-other-things-we-tell-ourselves…

LADIES! There is no better time than now.

One thing I think makes me specifically different in the world of boudoir is that I am a curvy woman and I have been a shame-self-talker for years. I believe in this genre it’s very common for curvier women to think they are not worthy of doing a “sexy photo session”. In the past, I have been guilty of thinking I couldn’t possibly pull it off. “That’s only for skinny and beautiful women” I’ve thought.

But you guys!! Was I wrong! And I am not ashamed to say that I am SO proud of myself. And of my gorgeous photos and my beautiful body. And I am forever grateful for my friend Michelle who made me feel truly safe and confident enough to go for it! (I love you Sal.)

My amazing friend and incredible boudoir photographer Jennifer Rozenbaum of Jenerations.com asked how I felt right after I had my very own boudoir session last week. That was her very first question. “So, how do you FEEL?!”

My answer?

I feel WORTHY. It was incredible. I feel like I “walked the walk”, and not just “talked the talk”.

I encourage and build up women every day. That’s what I do. It’s time that I do the same for myself!

Now it’s YOUR TURN! I’ve got your back…AND your “boudie”!

    Beautiful. Empowering. Amazing.

I love your confidence and courage and the way it shines through the photos. Confidence has got to be the sexiest thing about a woman but those curves are a close second!

Great photos! You rocked it. The single sexiest feature anyone has is confidence. The rest is all wrapping. The wrapping is looking darned good here too, but, you know what I’m saying.

As a birthday gift, I have just received a beautiful book featuring all the final photos from this session! Elizabeth, you are so hot. There is some content missing from this blog that, if you could see it, would make you feel that you were cheated. It makes me so happy to see that you are truly seeing your body in the same light that I always have. I love you so much!

    Beautiful! You are BEAUTIFUL!
    The images are great, too.
Congratulations on having the courage to take the plunge yourself. You now have a very real idea of what your clients are thinking/feeling and you can relate to them with great empathy, understanding and encouragement.
