The Influential Woman Project #1 | Austin Boudoir Photography

It’s common for artists to become a bit burnt out over time.  To squash that possibility, most of us make sure to work on side/personal project in our down time…if we ever have down time.  Ha!  I really wanted to commit to work on this project once a month, but it’s been more like once a quarter.  And I’m ok with that, as long as I do it at some point.

The minute I met Tish I knew that she would be the first subject of The Influential Woman Project I’d decided to create.  She was silly, vivacious, beautiful and just an absolute love to be around.  She’s one of those women that you know you could easily spill your guts to, share your deepest darkest secrets with and you wouldn’t be judged one bit.  She’s incredible.

The amazing Katie Astoria, of Modern Muse Beauty, pampered Tish with a hair & makeup makeover.  Then, we headed to downtown Austin for her portrait session.  It was so much fun!

Learn about Tish and her story here:

Where are you from?

Hutto, Texas

What is your story?  What makes you YOU?

I’m 66 yrs old and very blessed to have incredible health. Therefore I have a lot of energy that most of my same age friends do not. I believe the more that I get out and do, then I will be able to continue staying healthy as I age. Using my creativity and playing are a big part of my life. With 12 grandchildren, we continue to do this. It is what I want them to take with them in their lives. I think that if you are not enjoying your life then you are missing the purpose. I love people – all people. I will talk to anyone, anywhere about anything. I will take any excuse to start up a conversation with a stranger and try to make their day a little better. It always makes my day better when I can do this.I enjoy looking for the best in people and encouraging them in that direction.

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

My ability to seek out the best in every situation.

Please describe yourself as if you were talking about your best friend.

She is so much fun to be around. She will do anything to make people laugh. She really cares about other people and tries to make them feel special in little ways. She has sought to find her own true integrity and works to improve this everyday.

What is your favorite book and why?

Many Winters by Nancy Woods. She shares life through the eyes and hearts of the Native American Indians that moves me to the core of my being. It encompasses the circle of life with beauty and words that cannot be misunderstood.

What is your favorite movie and why?

I guess because I have watched it so many times, it must be Pretty in Pink with Molly Ringwald. In her part, as a young teen, she is able to draw on a strength deep within herself, no matter how afraid she is and face life head on. I think that strength is within every human soul, yet most of the human race is not aware of this.

Who is your favorite musician/band and why?

John Denver is one of the 20th century’s most incredible singer/songwriters. His love for all of life is apparent in his poetry and the ability to share this through his singing. He opens up hearts and souls and fills them love.

What would you like to be remembered for?  “Famous” for?

I would like to be remembered for touching people’s lives. Famous for helping others to love themselves OR being the oldest person to ever win a demolition derby! ; }

Who is the one person in your life that has been the most influential on you? (I know, this is HARD!)

WOW, this is hard. My friend of 44 years, Anne Eagle-Walker. We have raised our children together, walked through divorces together while always having the commonality of searching for our paths to true spirituality. In all the ups and downs of our paths, she always seemed to make the right choice, while I on the other hand picked the harder road. She is always my Light at the end of those roads.
